Allergy: Lupin

Lupin and its derivatives can be found in many products, including these shown below:


Lupin is a garden flower. The seeds from some varieties of lupin are cultivated as food and can be eaten whole or crushed to make lupin flour. It can be used in baking or making pancakes, as well as some pasta recipes. Some people with lupin allergy are also allergic to peanuts.

Found in: Baked goods, Pancakes, Pasta, Pastries, Vegetarian meat substitute and Waffles.


Lupin allergy symptoms may include:

  • Swelling in the face, throat and/or mouth
  • Difficulty breathing
  • Severe asthma
  • Abdominal pain nausea and vomiting
