Allergy: Mustard

Mustard and its derivatives can be found in many products, including these shown below:


Mustard allergy is likely to cause reactions from foods made from the mustard plant including: leaves, seeds, flowers, mustard based oil, and foods that incorporate any of these.

Found in: Chutney, Indian food, Ketchup, Marinades, Piccalilli, Salad dressing, Sauces, Sausages, Processed meat products, Soups and Spice mixes.

More serious symptoms include:

  • Swelling in the face, throat and/or mouth
  • Difficulty breathing
  • Severe asthma
  • Abdominal pain, nausea and vomiting
