Allergy: Peanuts

Peanut and its derivatives can be found in many products, including these shown below:


Peanuts are related to foods such as peas, beans and lentils. Peanut Allergy symptoms are normally mild, but extreme cases sometimes occur, including wheezing, swelling in the throat and even anaphylactic shock, although fatal symptoms rarely occur.

Found in: Cakes, Cereal Bars, Chilli Sauce, Dressings, Enchilada Sauce, Fenugreek, Gravy, Hydrolised Plant or Vegetable Protein, Marinades, Peanut butter, Peanut oil, Puddings, Satay Sauce and Other sauces.

Mild peanut allergen symptoms can include:

  • Itchy skin
  • Hives, which can appear as small spots or large welts
  • Itching or tingling sensation in or around the mouth or throat
  • Nausea
  • Runny or congested nose
