Sesame allergies are common among people with peanut and tree nut allergy, those with an allergy to Sesame can also react to other seeds. A reaction to Sesame can sometimes be quite severe, with breathing difficulties as well as anaphylaxis.
Found in: Bread, Chutney, Crackers, Dips, Dressings, Hummus, Marinades, Sauces, Soups, Tahini butter and Toasts.
Although less common, sesame allergy can also cause more severe allergy symptoms. The most severe type of allergy symptom is called “anaphylaxis” — an intense, rapid allergic response that can cause difficulty breathing. Any food can cause anaphylaxis.
